A Summary from Michele Burke
The Oregon Library Association (OLA) is looking for help transferring a 50th Anniversary History presentation to an updated media format. Ideally, volunteer(s) would transfer the OLA 50th anniversary slideshow presentation to a format that may be viewed online. The slideshow, a written script, and an audio cassette tape (maybe two? one could be a backup) are in the OLA archives stored at the State Library in Salem, Oregon. The script includes timing indicators for syncing the slideshow with either the audio tape, a reading of the script, or both (we do not know what is on the tape or the slides). The project may involve reading and recording the script, making technology choices, finding access to necessary equipment, and uploading the final product to the OLA website. This opportunity may appeal to people who are interested in archives, information repackaging, digital objects, and media creation. The person or people who take on this project will be self directed and will manage and complete the project using his or her best judgement in coordination with Lori Wamsley, Michele Burke, and the OLA Executive Board.

who will use this tutorial, proposal, and guide?
Oregon librarians and graduate students (in an master's of library science program) will be using this tutorial to make decisions, develop workflows, and research all aspects of making the OLA 50th anniversary slideshow available online and in a format that can be played at the annual conference. It is assumed that these users will have a basic understanding of the library community and why this project matters. Content will be focused on actual procedures, documenting decision making, and preparing the user group to actually digitize the materials.
Camila Harris, Nicole Langley, and Stephanie Miller (Emporia State University, School of Library and Information Management, Oregon Cohort 15) developed this website to fulfill the requirements for Assignment 6 in the LI815-XO Information Technology class, Spring 2016 semester. We were tasked with exploring how to put the old slideshow (in all its parts) on the web and advised to demonstrate best practices in web design with regard to usability and accessibility as we researched the technologies and web applications required to make this possible.
