Our mission for this project is the digitization of the Oregon Library Associations' (OLA) 50th anniversary presentation. This includes:
This project can benefit both the OLA and the general public, for the purposes of displaying the overall historical context of the OLA's work for libraries and librarians in professional and educational contexts. It also charts the growth of an organization over five decades of community involvement. Mission & Context The Oregon Library Association (OLA) would like to display their 50th anniversary presentation at their annual conference and to members and other library association affiliates and users by posting it in an accessible format on their website. By transferring a milestone celebration (50th anniversary) in the Oregon Library Association’s history to modern formats, this project provides historical context and perspective to the work of the association and Oregon librarians. These items provide a snapshot of library association history as well as a way to assess the successes and changes that have occurred since the 50th anniversary presentation. Currently, they are boxed and only accessible by visiting the Oregon State Library (OSL) and asking to view them in the State Library’s special collections. By collating and adding this presentation in 21st century formats on the Oregon Library Association web page, this moment in history can be accessed and used by library association members and the larger library community. |
